Job Description

Position Ends:

March 20th, 2026

This Position is a temporary support position starting Monday January 5th until March 31, 2026.  Hours are Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, 12:30 to 3:00pm and Tuesday and Thursday 9:00am to 1:00pm. The hours for this position are provided by the CVCDA and may vary. The ideal candidate would build caring and respectful relationships with children, staff, and families; assist in the development and implementation of an outstanding early care and learning program based on the emerging interests and passions within the group; maintain a clean and safe environment that meets licensing regulations; engage in additional responsibilities as defined in the Job Description.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in ensuring activities and procedures comply with current licensing requirements
  • Works within the policies and procedures of the CVCDCS
  • Follow the BCGEU collective agreement
  • Working with the staff team and other professional supports, to promote the integration of child requiring extra supports
  • Informs Program/Team Lead and Regular staff of all requirements, routines and approaches specific to children in the program who require extra supports.
  • Establish strong working relationships and coordinate supports with all professionals connected with the child and his/her family.
  • Implement strategies within a child’s care plan and work closely with supporting agencies (i.e. Comox Valley Child Development Association)
  • Utilize the BC Early Learning Framework to plan and implement inclusive, culturally responsive programming that supports the healthy development of all children.
  • Work collaboratively and respectfully with parents and guardians to support each child as an individual
  • Assist staff in maintaining an inclusive, safe, healthy and happy environment indoors and outdoors
  • Assist in maintaining cleanliness
  • Implement positive guidance strategies and have a collaborative team approach to the job
  • Performs related duties as required

Qualifications:

Basic ECE

Additional Qualifications:

  • Valid ECEA or ECE Certificate;
  • Valid First Aid Certificate;
  • Special Needs Certificate an asset
  • Experience working with children with additional support needs in a child care setting
  • Reliable mode of transportation to travel between sites
  • Completed ľ¹ÏÖ±²¥Best Choices: The Ethical Journey Training an asset
  • Completed the BC Early Learning Framework Training an asset;

Salary & Benefits:

Wages dependant on Qualifications between $22.24 - $28.52 per hour.
