Muddy Boot Prints is an unlicensed, fully outdoor early learning program for children aged 2.5-5yrs. There is no indoor facility for our program. We follow the Forest School philosophy in East Vancouver parks between Main Street and Renfrew Street. At Muddy Boot Prints, we go out to play and learn every day, regardless of the weather! Our play-based curriculum is guided by the BC Early Learning Framework, emergent and responsive to childrens' inquiries about local wildlife, plant life and more.
Our ideal candidate would have a passion for getting children outside and into nature. While outdoor education experience is preferred, it is not mandatory. What is mandatory is being comfortable outside in all weather! We are an inclusive and very supportive work environment that will offer onsite training to the right candidate.

The ideal candidate:
• Must be a Canadian citizen or have valid work visa to apply.
• Has a minimum 2 years of working in a preschool or daycare setting.(Preference is given to candidates that have had experience teaching in an outdoor setting).
• Has their ECE certification or ECEA certificate. This is preferred but not necessary (Can be currently attending school to obtain ECE certification)
• Must have a valid CPR certificate
• Must provide a VPD Vulnerable Sector CRC
• Posesses the ability to work in an inclusive program that meets the needs of diverse individual children
- Has the skills to guide children in a caring and respectful manner, using positive behaviour guidance strategies
• Demonstrates strong teamwork skills
• Can plan, carry out and evaluate developmentally appropriate activities and experiences for children using modelling, observing, questioning, reflecting, demonstrating and reinforcing techniques
• Has knowledge and understanding of the Early Learning Framework and Forest School Philosophy
• Maintains a growth mindset and passion for student progress
• Demonstrates a high degree of integrity and agency; holds themselves accountable for learning outcomes and advocates for their students
• Facilitates problem-solving, fosters critical thinking skills, and shows a high degree of creativity in the implementation of the forest school philosophy
• Is able to assist in safety management and risk mitigation thorughout the program
Salary & Benefits:
$24-$26/hour at 16 hours per week.
Hours are Monday-Thursday, 8:45am -1:45pm
Please note that, as our program is fully outdoors and not in a licensed space, we are unable to offer the wage enhancement.
