Early Childhood Educator (ECE) & Early Childhood Educator Assistant Position (ECEA)

We are looking at hiring several, full-time ECE and ECEA positions at Cariboo Kids Daycare, founded by

Cariboo Road Christian Fellowship.

The Qualifications

• A Diploma in Early Childhood Education from a recognized post-secondary institution

• Hold an ECE Certificate issued by the B.C. Early Childhood Education Registry

• 2 years or more experience as a classroom teacher of young children (age 3 to 5)

• Basic-intermediate computer skills

• Administrative experience

• First Aid Certificate

• Food Safe Certificate

• A clear criminal check record

• Province’s immunization record

Job Knowledge & Duties

• Have clear understanding of the childcare rules and regulations and the child care facility

policies and procedures

• Ensure ECE BC code of ethics and positive work attitude

• Plan and teach an emergent curriculum and lesson plan in collaboration with the team to

carry out and assess developmentally children’s appropriate activities and experiences

• Ensure that the learning environment set up is safe and age appropriate

• Supervise children and always aware of the number of children in attendance, ensuring

that the children are signed in and out

• Ensure guidance of children’s behavior that encourages positive self-concept

• Take part in all aspects of the program (indoor and outdoor activities)

• Report and record incidents

• Use good communication skills, both written and verbally, to share information with staff

and parents

• Follows the guideline of the Daycare Director when relaying information to the parents

• Keep daily children record (example: activities, food intake, toileting, nap time, etc.)

• Report indoor and outdoor maintenance issues (example: daily outdoor checklist)

• Food preparation

• Follow opening and/or closing routines if scheduled

• Participate in monthly fire drills

• Contribute and maintain ongoing cooperation and work within a multi-disciplinary team

or networking with other related support fields to promote health, wellness, mental

health, safety, nutrition, and other factors that affect the child’s development

Understand the unique cultural and societal issues that affect children and their families

• Demonstrate initiative, creativity, and resourcefulness

• Able to work independently and be reliable and self-motivated

• Able to work flexible hours and at times, over-time
