Provides nurturing and developmentally appropriate care to meet the needs of children aged 18 months to 5 years in a group setting within a safe and healthy environment and in cooperation with parents, colleagues and community professionals. Leads a teaching team. Maintains a healthy and stimulating learning environment in alignment with the goals, policies, and values stipulated in the Galiano Community Daycare Handbook and BC Childcare Licensing.

Our licensed multi-age daycare is open year-round. We run a small classroom for up to eight children with a strong nature-based program.

Program Overview, subject to enrollment and staffing

Summer Program Mid-June to mid-Sep

• Up to 8 children aged 18 mos to 5 years

• 5 days weekly, days TBC. Children in attendance 9:00-4:00

• Staff team: 1 lead and 1 assistant each day (spell each other off for breaks)

Winter Program Monday and Tuesday Mid-Sep to mid-June

• Up to 8 children aged 3-5 years

• Children in attendance 12:30pm-4:30pm

• Lead works as the sole staff person for up to four hours of contact time with the children 

Winter Program Wednesday through Saturday Mid-Sep to mid-June

• Up to 8 children aged 18 mos to 5 years

• Children in attendance 9:00-4:00

• Staff team: 1 lead and 1 assistant each day (spell each other off for breaks)

Qualifications:

Basic ECE

Additional Qualifications:

Would also consider someone with a pending ECE and years of experience as an ECE-A.

Must be willing to submit to a Criminal Record Check

Salary & Benefits:

$31.66-35.29/hr (includes Provincial Wage Enhancement)
GCD will cover the cost of benefits to eligible staff based on employment status, length of service and other criteria when budget allows, at the discretion of the Daycare Committee, and subject to renewal upon annual staff performance review. Benefits are provided through membership in 木瓜直播.
All employees receive a complimentary membership to our fitness centre.
