Dunbar Memorial Preschool located in the Dunbar area of Vancouver is looking for a full time year round teacher for its preschool program and outdoor nature program.  We are seeking a compassionate, energetic, and reliable Full-Time Teacher to join our dedicated team. The ideal candidate is passionate about early childhood education and committed to creating a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment where every child can thrive.  Key responsibilities include:

• Plan and implement age-appropriate curriculum and activities that promote cognitive, emotional, social, and physical development.

• Foster a safe and inclusive classroom environment where all children feel seen, heard, and valued.

• Observe, assess, and document children’s progress and communicate regularly with families.

• Collaborate with fellow teachers and staff to maintain consistency and quality in the program.

• Maintain a clean, organized, and stimulating classroom space.

• Follow all licensing and school health and safety regulations and procedures.

Qualifications:

Basic ECE

Additional Qualifications:

• IT or SN is preferred but candidates with Basic ECE can apply. 
• A current BC ECE Certificate
• Current Emergency First Aid and CPR C Certificate
• A valid Driver’s Licence (Desired but not necessarily needed)
• Music, yoga or some other specialty skill set would be an asset.
• Able to legally work in Canada for a minimum of 2 years.
• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
• Innovative, flexible and solution-oriented.
• Comfortable in using technology.
• Ability to model and support conflict resolution skills with children and adults.
• Additional language skills other than English (preferred but not required).
• Ability to carry up to 20 pounds and move furniture as required for room set up and clean up.

Required Experience:

Preference is given to those with 2 or more years of experience but new graduates can apply.  

Salary & Benefits:

• $22 - $24 per hour (based on education and experience) plus $6 an hour wage enhancement when applicable
• 2 weeks paid vacation to start
• 10 paid sick days per year
• Extended health benefits after completion of 3 month probationary period
• Reimbursement for First Aid recertification

Additional Information:

• An aptitude for working collaboratively with a team.
• An understanding of Licensing, including the BC Child Care Regulations.
• Strong time-management, self-management and interpersonal skills.
• An ability to use technology such as MS Word and Excel, social media etc and a comfort level in learning new technologies.
• The ability to plan curriculum for 2-5 year olds that takes into account the children’s individual interests, learning styles and development.
• Experience in observation skills and using those observations in curriculum planning and in providing colleagues and families with feedback on their child’s progress.
• The capacity to build trusting, respectful relationships with children, families, and teachers.
• A passion for working with children using positive child guidance techniques.
• A commitment to ongoing learning and to remaining current on emerging trends and issues regarding child and family development work, and parenting practices, along with up-to-date knowledge of local community services and resources.
