Reporting to the Daycare Supervisor the Child Care Worker assists in the day-to-day operation of the Community Children’s Centre (the Centre). This position is filled on a part time or full-time basis dependent on the enrollment of the Centre.

Qualifications:

Basic ECE

Required Experience:

In accordance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act – Child Care Licensing Regulation, [this employee] must:

  • Be at least 19 years of age.
  • Be able to provide care and mature guidance to children.
  • Possess an Early Childhood Education Assistant certificate, having completed at least one course of a basic early childhood education training program in child development, guidance, health and safety, or nutrition, through an educational institution listed in Schedule D of the Child Care Licensing Regulation
  • Possess or be willing to obtain current Child Safe First Aid certificate.
  • Have relevant work experience.

Salary & Benefits:

This is a permanent, full-time position based on 40 hours per week, located within the District of Tofino between the hours of 8:00am and 5:00pm, Monday through Friday. Schedules will be discussed and confirmed in advance. The hourly wage is $24.53.

This position is subject to a probationary period during which time the wage will be $22.08. The position offers a full range of benefits, including a pension plan, and is subject to the terms and conditions of the collective agreement between CUPE Local 118 and the District of Tofino.

Additional Information:

The District is open to paying for your ECEA or ECE training and certification courses.
